Independent oversight of labelling and restraint

Labelling systems, restraint use and consent overrides currently operate without independent monitoring. BC needs a permanent, independent oversight structure — one that includes people with lived and living experience and family caregivers as a legitimate source of expertise, not as consultees.

Tracking and reporting alone has not worked: antipsychotic prescribing has been monitored and published for over a decade while the rate has risen every year.
